Committee 4 Wagga, with Region Media, held our third Welcome to Wagga event at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club Members Lounge on Friday 19th May.
New residents were joined by Aunty Mary Atkinson, Mayor Cr Dallas Tout and representatives of various organisations within our community including Wagga Wagga South Lions Club, Wagga Wagga Netball , the Riverina Producers Markets, Region Development Australia - Riverina and Miss Wagga Wagga, Kate Pevere. The focus of the evening was on making and enhancing connections within our community and to our city.

Made For A Trade
The life of a tradie can be challenging but the rewards make all the hard work worthwhile.
That was the message to students and parents who flocked to the Made For A Trade information session held at the Mercure in Wagga.
The forum launched the new initiative run by Committee 4 Wagga in partnership with Training Services NSW.
Sixty students from high schools throughout Wagga Wagga and neighbouring towns registered for Made For A Trade, which was made possible by the generous support of TSA Management.

That was the message received by more than 60 attendees at the Riverina Economic Development Officer Forum February 2023.
Regional Development Australia Riverina in partnership with AusIndustry and Wagga City presented an update on economic development activities and trends across the region.
A tour of SAP and the Riverina Intermodal Freight and Logistics Hub (RiFL) to Wagga’s north was a highlight of the event.

Telstra Leadership Team Engages with Wagga Wagga
Telstra’s hierarchy made Wagga Wagga its present as they looked to the future of digital technology and connectivity.
Led by CEO Vicki Brady, the Telstra executive team met with a number of Wagga business representatives as they conducted site visits in the city and its surrounds last week.
Committee 4 Wagga partnered with Telstra to hold a cocktail party at the Magpies Nest function centre.
More than 100 guests – largely from Committee 4 Wagga’s membership base and the Telstra team – attended the event.

Committee 4 Wagga is carrying out community consultation on the adequacy and efficiency of the major connection point for the city’s north and south. The results of this survey will be sent to those making the decisions on the future of the Gobbagombalin Bridge. This feedback is considered a vital tool in the consultation process.

Tolland Renewal Project to Deliver Over 500 New Mixed-Tenure Homes
Member for Wagga Dr Joe McGirr has described the signing of an agreement on the Tolland Renewal Project as “the beginning of an exciting journey”.
The project will deliver in total 500 new mixed-tenure homes across the Tolland Estate through the joint endeavours of the NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC), Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) and the Argyle Consortium.

The Riverina Intermodal Freight and Logistics Hub is Open for Business
Wagga Wagga Mayor Dallas Tout has predicted the Riverina Intermodal Freight and Logistics Hub (RiFL) will have an enormous influence on the city for “many generations to come”.
Councillor Tout was joined by the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Sam Farraway and a number of dignitaries at the official opening of the railway siding and terminal at Bomen.

2021-22 Land Monitor Report Release & Launch
Wagga Wagga is grappling with a two to three-year lag in its housing supply, according to the newly released 2021-22 Land Monitor Report.
Housing Industry Association (HIA) Wagga chairman Tony Balding cited the shortfall as one of the major points raised by the report, which was launched at the Wagga RSL Club on Friday.
“We only put out 171 blocks this year. This is normally around 300 or 400 and it’s where we’ve got a two or three-year lag,” Mr Balding said.

Committee 4 Wagga hosted our second Welcome to Wagga Wagga event at the Botanic Gardens. New residents to Wagga Wagga were joined by Dr Joe McGirr MP (State Member for Wagga Wagga), Cr Amelia Parkins, Aunty Cheryl Penrith, and Committee 4 Wagga members.
New residents and their families enjoyed a picnic at the Botanic Gardens Brolga Pond while mixing with Committee 4 Wagga members and invited guests.

Wagga Wagga’s housing, transport and skilled labour issues were addressed when CommBank chief executive officer Matt Comyn was a special guest at a community breakfast held at the Rules Club.
Matt joined Committee 4 Wagga chair Adam Drummond and Founding Director at Sureway Employment and Training Judy Galloway on a panel facilitated by CommBank Riverina Executive Manager Nick Abraham.
