Telstra Leadership Team Engages with Wagga Wagga
Telstra’s hierarchy made Wagga Wagga its present as they looked to the future of digital technology and connectivity.
Led by CEO Vicki Brady, the Telstra executive team met with a number of Wagga business representatives as they conducted site visits in the city and its surrounds last week.
Committee 4 Wagga partnered with Telstra to hold a cocktail party at the Magpies Nest function centre.
More than 100 guests – largely from Committee 4 Wagga’s membership base and the Telstra team – attended the event.
Ms Brady spoke at length on the importance regional centres, such as Wagga Wagga, play in shaping the technological future.
Originally from Holbrook, Ms Brady marvelled at the city’s continued progress.
“Wagga is thriving and I could see it becoming another Silicon Valley,” Ms Brady said.
Silicon Valley is a region in northern California which serves as a global centre for high technology and innovation.
Ms Brady was glowing in her praise for the innovative approach of another Committee 4 Wagga member Charles Sturt University in addition to the emerging telecommunications equipment supplier Zetifi.
Zetifi, which has its regional base in Wagga Wagga, was founded in 2017 to assist with the connectivity challenges faced by farmers and rural residents.
Telstra has been impressed enough to invest in Zetifi, which had a large contingent attending the cocktail event.
Committee 4 Wagga chair Adam Drummond addressed the function, saying Telstra had a significant footprint on Australia’s history while the future looked even more exciting.
He cited the Special Activation Precinct to Wagga Wagga’s north as a development of particular interest for networks of Telstra’s magnitude.
