Sixteen major projects and initiatives have been identified in Wagga Wagga City Council’s new Advocacy Plan aimed at sourcing State and Federal Government support to address areas that are beyond the capacity of Council and to seek additional funding for specific projects as required.

Housing Developments Progress

Growing Wagga Wagga to a population of 100,000 by 2038 has been identified as a goal by State and Local government and Committee for Wagga. A key factor in achieving this target will be ensuring sufficient housing to support the growth in population. It is likely this will include the re-zoning of properties within the City, to allow for higher density living, and the re-zoning of agricultural land allowing for the expansion of Wagga Wagga.

The Big Movers - Regional Australia Institute Report

The Regional Australia Institute have released ‘The Big Movers’ report analyzing population trends around the country. The report, which is based on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2016 census, confirms that regional Australia attracted more people than it lost to capital cities. The net inflow to regional Australia was 65,204 people.

Wagga Wagga Active Travel Plan Updates

Work will shortly begin on the next part of the Wagga Wagga Active Travel Plan following Wagga Wagga City Council’s acceptance of Fulton Hogan Industries Pty Ltd’s offer to complete a 26km section of the plan consisting of 15km of new pathways and 11km of asphalt overlay on existing shared paths.
