C4W, including several of our Board members and member organisations were invited to participate in welcoming 14 members of a Trade Mission for Consular Officials to Wagga Wagga and the Riverina Murray region early in October.The program showcased the region’s key industry sectors and investment opportunities with a particular focus on the advanced manufacturing sector and was hosted by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, Austrade and Wagga Wagga City Council

WAGGA WAGGA 100,000 POPULATION BY YEAR 2038

Wagga Wagga 100,000 had its origins back in July 2018 when the Deputy Premier, John Barilaro, released the State Governments 20Year Economic Vision for Regional NSW.  Amongst other expectations and directions for regional NSW, this vision identified Wagga Wagga as a Growth Centre with a population forecast of 100,000 people by 2038.

Charles Sturt University - Graduate Certificate in Community Leadership and Resilience

In early July Committee 4 Wagga attended Charles Sturt University’s release of a new course, developed in collaboration with industry and community experts and ideally suited to both the private and public sectors.  The Graduate Certificate in Community Leadership and Resilience is custom-made for those seeking a leadership role in building strong, sustainable communities.  Graduates will be ready for senior leadership roles within community-focused organisations – be that local government, not-for-profit, non-government organisations or any other sector with a strong connection to community outcomes.

Inland Rail

The first was a Bulk Freight Futures Symposium held in Junee in July.  Bulk Freight Futures was a targeted one day symposium that aims to bring together technicians and industry leaders involved in bulk freight movement in Australia. Key topics addressed included the grain supply chain, movement of bulk liquids, regional bulk freight distribution to markets, and infrastructure and technology changes to keep pace with domestic and international market demand.

Mr Brendan Nelson, CEO Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation

Committee 4 Wagga had the opportunity to meet with Brendan Nelson early in August.  Mr Nelson in his capacity as CEO of the Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation (RGDC), heads up the Activation Precincts program for the NSW Government.  The RGDC manages and oversees the delivery of the Special Activation Precincts which, at this time, covers Wagga Wagga and Parkes SAP’s.

Wagga 100,000 Event

Committee 4 Wagga, in conjunction with the Housing Industry Association and event partner Wagga Wagga City Council, will be hosting a seminar on the morning of Friday 27th September 2019, wherein we will engage with key stakeholders to drive the conversation in the public forum around the future growth and development of Wagga Wagga towards the 2038 target of 100,000 people.

These last few winter months, whilst not delivering the rainfall we desperately need, has seen progress in key infrastructure projects and Council appointments which will drive momentum in the growth of Wagga Wagga.  In addition, coming up in September we have what we consider as being a milestone event for the future of Wagga Wagga and the surrounding region.

Wagga School Leaders Graduation 2019

The 2019 Wagga School Leaders Program concluded with a graduation evening at the Magpies Nest Restaurant on the 21st June 2019. The students were joined by proud parents, school principals and co-ordinators, program facilitators and contributors as well as our valued sponsors and dignitaries were there for a night of gratitude and acknowledgement of achievement.

Bomen Industrial Park/RiFL - Special Activation Precinct

April saw the announcement by the NSW Government that the Bomen Industrial Park has been designated as a Special Activation Precinct (SAP) – one of only two in the State.  The impact of this designation is significant for the ability of the City to attract new business to and facilitate expansion of existing businesses in the Industrial Park.
