Committee 4 Wagga welcomes the appointment of Michael Keys as Director Regional Activation at Wagga Wagga City Council.

These last few winter months, whilst not delivering the rainfall we desperately need, has seen progress in key infrastructure projects and Council appointments which will drive momentum in the growth of Wagga Wagga.  In addition, coming up in September we have what we consider as being a milestone event for the future of Wagga Wagga and the surrounding region.

Mr Keys commenced with Council on 15th July with a brief that includes strategic land use planning, economic development, urban design, recreation planning, asset planning and developer contributions.

Michael Keys is a former Director of Planning and Environment at Albury City Council.  Mr Keys has been a senior manager at Albury City Council since the mid-2000s after previously working at the Murray and Dubbo councils.  He also had a stint as Albury City Council acting General Manager.

"Council interviewed quite a number of impressive candidates for this role and Michael stood out as having both the experience and the professional acumen to deliver the best outcomes for Wagga Wagga, from our special activation precinct, digital connectivity and regional growth programs that we are pursuing in partnership with the NSW government," Wagga City Council General Manager Peter Thompson is quoted in the Border Morning Mail newspaper.
