Mr Brendan Nelson, CEO Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation

Committee 4 Wagga had the opportunity to meet with Brendan Nelson early in August.  Mr Nelson in his capacity as CEO of the Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation (RGDC), heads up the Activation Precincts program for the NSW Government.  The RGDC manages and oversees the delivery of the Special Activation Precincts which, at this time, covers Wagga Wagga and Parkes SAP’s.

The Wagga Wagga Special Activation Precinct was announced early this year. The State Government is now at the technical planning stage and has also commenced community consultation – both feeding into the master planning process.

Brendan was in Wagga Wagga to meet with WWCC and introduce himself to other identified parties and provide more information about the Wagga Wagga Special Activation Precinct and to see if there are any opportunities for collaboration in the future.

Role of the Development Corporation re SAP’s is to take a holistic approach, noting that the SAP is separate from but concurrent with, the RiFL and Industrial Subdivision which is supported by the Growing Local Economies program and also the Digital Connectivity (current scoping study – but does have a role within the SAP Business Case) for Regional NSW - all of which are ultimately funded out of the Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund.

We look forward to ongoing engagement with the Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation as they navigate through the Master Plan, Business Case and Investment Strategy process which is required prior to construction.
