Board of Management changes

The Board of Management of Committee 4 Wagga advises that Judy Galloway has retired from her position as Chair of the Committee 4 Wagga at the Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday 5th December 2018.  Judy was appointed as the inaugural Chair of the Board of Management from inception in 2011.  As part of the Board’s succession planning, Judy has also retired as a Board Member.

Meetings with Federal and State Members

Meeting with Michael McCormack, Deputy Prime Minister – Representatives from the Board of C4Wagga and the CEO will be meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister & Member for Riverina on 30th November to discuss a range of issues where we believe the Federal Government can assist with key infrastructure projects for the City. Canberra airport – International freight capabilities

Courtesy of Jason Wadley of the ANZ Bank, C4W hosted a luncheon meeting at which we had in attendance Brendan Smyth, the inaugural Australian Capital Territory’s Commissioner for International Engagement.

Brendan’s presentation and subsequent discussion was on Canberra Airport as an international airfreight hub and how it may benefit Riverina importers and exporters.

WWCC list of Priority Projects

The June 25th meeting of the WWCC saw the receipt and noting of a report on the list of high level priority projects identified as requiring assistance from the State Government. The list excludes a number of potential road related projects as they are currently either under review or are fully funded. We will continue to advocate for these projects, as well as those under review or fully funded to be initiated and funding secured in the coming twelve months.

Qantas flight school

In February, Qantas announced plans to spend $20 million establish a new pilot training academy at an existing airfield in regional Australia with the capacity to train up to 500 pilots a year. The school is scheduled to open its doors in 2019 and would be initially for direct entry cadets joining the Qantas Group, including Jetstar and QantasLink.
