10 Year Celebration

Committee for Wagga celebrated 10 years since our incorporation in February! Members and guests joined us at The Riverine Club as we reflected and celebrated our achievements.

Over the last ten years, Committee for Wagga has partnered with our members, the community, business, and all levels of Government for the betterment of our city. Our inaugural Chair, Judy Galloway, stated ‘We will bring together leaders in our community to share knowledge and resources in identifying and addressing opportunities.’

Through implementing the Wagga School Leaders Program and the Emerging Leaders Program, Committee for Wagga has guided our city’s current and future leaders. We look forward to developing these programs further as we work with and guide Wagga Wagga’s future leaders.

Committee for Wagga has proudly advocated for and supported projects which will provide significant long-term economic and social benefits to Wagga Wagga. For example, the Riverina Freight and Logistics Hub, in conjunction with the Special Activation Precinct at Bomen, has received $157 million in Government funding and is expected to deliver over 3,400 jobs by 2040.

As we look to the future, we remain committed to our city and pursuing and advocating for projects which will have a long-term positive impact. An alternate route to the Olympic Highway and a solution to the traffic congestion on the Gobbagombalin Bridge are two such projects. In addition, we continue to advocate for sustainable local procurement in both government and privately-funded projects.

Comments from CEO, Brett Somerville.

“We want to thank the membership for their ongoing support. The Committee has been part of some of the more significant developments in Wagga’s recent history, and that is something we can all say we are proud of.”

"The current conditions that we are in place a greater significance on our ability to provide a coordinated and consistent voice for the initiatives that are most important to making Wagga Wagga the most liveable regional city in Australia."

"Our members have been the backbone of the Committee for Wagga and we look forward to working closely with them in years to come."
