Wagga School Leaders Program Module 1 2022

The 2022 Wagga School Leaders Program commenced last Tuesday with Module 1 being completed at the Charles Sturt University. Nineteen enthusiastic students arrived ready to learn new skills and gain confidence to become leaders of the future.

During the day students participated in the Launch of the 2022 Wagga School Leaders Program where they met, interviewed and conversed with various community leaders including: The Hon Michael McCormack MP, State Member for Wagga Wagga, Dr Joe McGirr, MP, Kay Hull AM, Patron of Committee for Wagga, along with business owners from the Wagga Wagga community.

Module 1 objectives were to:

·         share why the Wagga School Leaders Program is important and to communicate the role of the program to developing future leaders/ambassadors.

·         discuss intent & setting ourselves up for success.

·         commence developing a leadership shield, a medium for the students to communicate who they are, where they fit within family & community and the values that shape them as developing leaders.

·         provide guidance regarding effective communication, connection and social engagement.

·         provide the fundamental knowledge to understand the media and an introduction to the skills required when speaking to the media and the public.

The day was concluded with a debriefing, giving the students the opportunity to discuss and reflect on what they had learned during the day.

 Module 2 will take place at Borambola Sport & Recreation Centre Tuesday 22nd March focusing on team building and leadership.
