PARLIAMENT TOLD OF OUR BRIDGE NEEDS

Committee 4 Wagga was strongly represented in NSW State Parliament as debate took place on the proposal to duplicate the Gobbagombalin Bridge.

At the same time, staunch supporters gathered at the Transgrid Discovery Hub in Wagga Wagga to watch a livestream of the debate on the big screen.

Committee 4 Wagga co-chair Richard Pottie, along with board members Justeen Kirk and Glenn Venables, travelled to Sydney to support Member for Wagga Dr Joe McGirr as he led the push for a second crossing of the Murrumbidgee River.

Wagga Business Chamber and Dr McGirr had joined forces with Committee 4 Wagga to campaign for Bridge To The Future, a community-led initiative that resulted in more than 10,000 signatures on a petition calling for the duplication of the bridge.

“After a lot of small steps along the way, this has been one big stride on our journey towards a duplicated bridge,” Committee 4 Wagga chief executive officer Scott Sanbrook said.

Committee 4 Wagga will continue to advocate for a second bridge, highlighting growing safety concerns and increasing traffic delays as Wagga Wagga’s northern suburbs continue to expand.
