Milestone For Bridge Petition
The campaign for the duplication of the Gobbagombalin Bridge has reached a significant milestone.
Member for Wagga Dr Joe McGirr has joined Committee 4 Wagga co-chair Samantha Beresford and Wagga Business Chamber business manager Sally Manning to announce that more than 5000 signatures had been tallied on the petition.
“It’s an important milestone as it means we are halfway there,” Samantha said.
“We need 10,000 signatures to get the issue debated in parliament by Dr McGirr and we have made a lot of headway in a short space of time.”
The petition was launched in November and is calling for the Gobba Bridge – the city’s main north-south crossing of the Murrumbidgee River – to be duplicated to alleviate traffic congestion and address safety concerns for motorists.
Community members can sign the petition at a number of participating businesses or by printing the attached form.
